Rainsbury House
Far From The Madding Crowd … Two stunning interlinked barn conversions, Barn Owl Cottage (sleeps 5) and The Barn (sleeps 8) which can be linked internally to accommodate 13.
They nestle in 16 acres of hills and woodland on the Somerset/Devon border , adjoining Wimbleball Lake; perfect for exploring the wild beauty of Exmoor, the beautiful North Devon Coast and the Quantock and Blackdown Hills.
Both properties are very high spec, spacious, comfortable and flexible to suit the needs of our guests. For families with young children and infants/babies we provide cots, high chairs, booster seats, stair gates and other child related goodies.
Both properties have large flat screen televisions with Freeview and DVD players (with a good selection of DVDs for children ... and for the grown-ups too), CD players, radio alarms, hairdryers in every bedroom and a good selection of board games and books if you fancy a quiet night or a lazy day. Both properties have central heating, provided by our wood pellet biomass boiler. In addition, The Barn has a large wood burner (with free wood).
The Barn and Barn Owl Cottage have their own garden, BBQ and BBQ area (with initial free charcoal), and there is a centrally-heated indoor table tennis barn. The fields abound with sheep and lambs throughout the year, which is always a hit with young children.
If you crave peace and tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, then this is the perfect spot. Straight out of your front door you can wander undisturbed across our fields, through our woods and around the lake where there are deer, foxes, badgers, otters and a huge variety of birds.
If you love activity holidays, too, the far side of Wimbleball Lake has a fantastic activity centre offering cycle hire, sailing, canoeing, zorba balls tree surfing, archery and an indoor climbing wall as well as group activities such as raft building and back-to-nature survival craft skills. To see the full range of activities at the centre, please visit www.southwestlakes.co.uk/location/wimbleball-lake
A word of advice though, if you would like to hire a bike to explore the miles and miles of stunning off-road cycle routes around the lake, please book well in advance of your stay here at Rainsbury House.
